Experience Washintgton D.C. How we didn’t get to visit the Washington Monument.

The only meal more important than the breakfast is brunch. A year ago we tried to have a brunch in Founding Farmers, but the two-hour waiting line didn’t sound very good, so we decided to have some waffles nearby. This time, being already smarter, Scott called them right after we woke up and managed to book us a table. So we only had to wait around 20 minutes after arriving. But the food was worth every minute of it.

I had my usual, eggs Benedict - English muffin covered with smoked salmon, poached egg and sauce hollandaise. Scott had eggs Benedict too, but instead of poached egg he had the eggs scrambled. All of it accompanied with hot chocolate, coffee, mimosas and we considered the day well started.

From the brunch we walked to the presidential monuments. After renovating it for few years, they had just reopened the Washington one. And by the time we finally made it there, the tickets for Sunday were long gone. They open the ticket booth every day at 8:30am and by 9-9:15am the tickets are gone. First tourists apparently arrive at 6am to score the tickets. So, instead we walked to the Lincoln monument and watched the Washington one from there. And after that to the Congress.

We had dinner with Scott’s friends in the Italian place we chose yesterday. The food was great, especially if you ate it quickly enough so it wouldn’t freeze on your plate in that huge open hall.
